NC Renaissance Faire in Wake Forest
If you are not sure what this event is all about I can tell you that I attended a similar venue in Myrtle Beach and it was one of the most exciting shows I have ever seen. It was fast moving and took a lot of skill for both rider and horse to attempt these ancient reenactments.
What was once held at the NC State Fairgrounds for 13 years, the North Carolina Renaissnace is coming to Wake Forest Golf Club off Capital Boulevard for two weekends. Renaissance Faire will be held both March 28-29 and April 4-5 weekends. The Wake Forest Golf Club which originally opened in 1967 has since been closed and is a perfect location for this event. While not only is space needed for the venue itself, the course (at least 7-10 acres of it) will host the seven entertainment stages, sword play and jousting atop horses. In the past the Renaissance Faire has attracted about 5,000 a day and hopefully plans on doing the same at its new location. According to Donna Varner-Sheaves, the Renaissance Faire's general manager, the bucolic golf course is a better venue for the event than the more modern fairgrounds. The Faire eventually hopes to find a permanent home where it can fulfill its long-term goal: constructing a stone castle.........and would like it to be in Wake Forest.
