There are a lot of fun things to do this weekend and below are a few you might want to check out:
1. Veterans' Service: More than 300 veterans have been honored with a brick paver at the Stony Hill Community Veterans Memorial in Wake Forest. This is the eight year the community has honored its veterans with a service that will feature the color guard from Wake Forest-Rolsville High School ROTC, hymns and the Rev. Frankie Carroll, who served in Vietnam with give a speech. Trumpet notes will open and close the ceremony. Engraved bricks are $35.00 and there will be free drinks and biscuits available. It is being held at 7521 Stony Hill Road in Wake Forest from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Sunday. To order your brick and to honor these Veterans' please call 919-556-5707
2. Falls River Town Center will host an evening music festival Friday to help fill the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. The free event and food drive will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Mo Jones: Pleasure to Burn is the featured music. Retailers will be offering food, beverages and other activities, including the center's display of its annual scarecrow contest. Exact location is Falls River Town Center at Falls of Neuse and Durant roads. You are encouraged to bring lawn chairs AND 2 or more nonperishable food items.
